I'm currently worshipping the LHD 5 litre sailing truck alter.... and I can honestly say it is the most fun I've had on 4 wheels...

You either 'get' alternative motoring or you don't.....

No matter if you buy a lorry or a car, it has to be OLD. The new ones are stamped out of recycled plastic bottles, and will barely do 100,000 miles of trouble free motoring, rubbish, what you want is a 50 year old one, based on a cast iron chassis, that will last a lifetime, as it will be incapable of being reliable enough to ever wear out, but will need constant care.

A truck is like a cell phone. You don't realize how much you needed one until after you have one.

It uses too much gas, is longer than a typical parking space, and has a turning circle that is too wide to make a U-turn on most streets, yet I sometimes wish I had bought a bigger one with a V8.

^^ Yeah, your roads are too narrow. During the mid-1980s, my family traveled to London, rented a car, and drove to Yorkshire to visit my Mom's relatives. I vaguely recall that the rental car was a Ford Sierra Estate. We were perpetually lost, we couldn't understand the locals when we stopped for directions, and every few miles the car mirrors would flip back after brushing against a tree limb or sign post that was too close to the road.

Mrs Lakesailor had an Alfa Spyder LHD. Overtaking was actually pretty easy as you looked up the inside before pulling out.

This is my current (company) ride - SWMBO wants a F150: just the medium sized one with the 5.4V8 engine. Not the 7.3 one that's in the white beast. It's for the towing capacity, honest
