That was the theme of their fancy dress. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
They make a great effort each year for the charity. They also compete in other races as well. They have raised £1,000:00's for the RNLI and the like. We all think they're great here in the Basin /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
After I lost my Dad and Brother, Stewart Tolfrey to heart disease I started this Row4aReason charity event. I love this village, and the people in it. They really come together for this occasion. We have raised in excess of £75,000:00 to date for local and national charities.
Its a great day out and it's getting bigger every year. We welcome anyone to come and row. We start at the lock gates and the course is around Northey Island. Five and a half miles of fun!!!!!!!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Anyone who would like more info on this, please feel free to PM me.
At the next meeting I am going to ask if YBW.com can have a banner here, they may be persuaded to enter a team!!!! /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
You do live in a fantastic part of the world, keep it that way and don't let the developers get their grubby hands on it.
Yes I've seen the plans for the 11 three storey houses and the three commercial properties on the canal front , bloody disgrace.
But then thats Maldon Council, 'and they have a nice pond and a fountain you know!', The kids? No they can go and pay stupid prices for the swimming pool, no more swimming in the prom swimming lake, stop that joviality or I'll tax it! Do you hear me?
If you haven't been to Heybridge Basin on the river Blackwater, I highly recommend it before the council balls that up as well!!! /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif
Well dones and rants over with now Tina, but you did start it by reminding me of how nice it has been in your village, and what a joke the council are being, and the two pubs, their a disgrace as well now. Bloody Londoner's coming out here and mucking up something thats been going on for hundreds of years just for profit. Its not bloody right.
Clint, Terry's son, and my SWMBO, Tina aka Kindred_Spirit, grew up together here in the Basin.
Terry has a colourful history of racing, all around the world. Whilst on Bright Spark, he used to race against a young Derek Morland of Yachting Sports at Hamble Point Marina, who was aboard Trophy for the '79 Fastnet. They haven't met for years, but both remember each other well.
Anyway, /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif, Tina says well done!!!!
