Actually I think it's more a case of if you were a nice person and not a miserable moaning whingeing yottie, you could then be a stinkpotter.

Is it true then that yotties hate every other water user including their own kind?

Is only a spur of the moment thing really, borne of irritation when someone else decides to use the piece of water that you had identified for your own use. The moment passes and the hatred subsides - bit like the morning drive to work in some respects.

Re: Wot we need is......

.....a little button close at hand on boat/in car/in pocket, which, when pressed, will instantly carry out ones mind image and transform the object of our attention.
Just imagine...raggy sticky thingie with loads of verbals ...mind thought....press button......whoosh......allgone OR changed into MVII waving six pack OR changed into whimpering idiots in infatable pleading for help etc etc.........sure you can all think of many other interesting scenarios!
How much am I offered for said buttons delivered by xmas eve gift wrapped and INCLUDING batteries????

Re: \"Can\'t you see we\'re racing\"

On looking through this thread I cant help feeling thankful I no longer sail in the Solent by choice. I went through in September and found it crowded, expensive and with a thankfully long forgotten very unpleasant chop. Most of the problems recounted disappear when you leave the inner solent - and the rest pale into insignificance compared with meeting a rustbucket proceeding eastwards through the staights of Dover which unpredictably changes course at a critical moment. I know its a lot easier for me now I'm retired but the world is wide and most of the sea off the UK is pretty empty.

Sunsail goes west

Saw a press announcement a while ago that stated that Sunsail are going to base a fleet of refurbished 36's in Plymouth for charter and corporate racing etc.... Bang goes another nice cruising area.

The same problems exist on the East Coast.

I sail a 21 ft boat based on the Orwell and most weekends meet up with various races. Most are courteous and obey the regs. Having raced I do try and avoid start lines etc but what really drives me mad is when I am beating up river and get overtaken to windward stalling my boat completely. A couple of degrees the other way and the racing boat (often 30+ feet) would speed up and easily pass through any wind shadow I may create. The water is there for all to enjoy and should be without causing each other inconvenience.

It may not be a rule of the road but it makes sense to me!
