can anyone recommend a decent canopy cleaner ??

I`ve tried expensive chandlery crap - lots of scrubbing - all to no avail.

next step is a new canopy
(aprox 1500 euros)

any help gratefully received

Renovo is the best product out there, but nothing beats a good old scrub, or a jet wash. Downside of this is damage to the stitching. Quay canvas at Deacons will clean and proof the canopy @ £12/m2.

Have found the Renovo cleaner to be very effective but does need a good scrub and potentially several goes and Boracol will keep the mould and mildew away. Their waterproofing product as also 1st class but then I have also found that Fabsil also does a perfectly good job as is much more cost effective.

I have used the Renovo colour reviver as well as someone mentioned above but would not recommend this at all. We found the colour varied bottle to bottle (yes, all well stirred and samples mixed where possible) and it left a cardboard texture on the covers. I also found the person I spoke to at renovo very defensive about the product offering me a spare bottle in full and final settlement before i'd even finished detailing the problem......

Once cleaned I can highly recommend Fabsil Gold to re-proof the material. It really does stiffen and renovate the canvass.

Patio magic is gentle, cheap and very good for removing green algae. Just splash it all over and forget about it; after a few weeks the algae will be gone.
Other muck will need a different approach, such as a scrub with fairy liquid or soap powder.

After using a product similar to patio magic I found most of the green gone but residual dirt remaining. I tried mild detergent and brushing and it had a modest affect.

I had much greater success using a steam cleaner coupled with some scrubbing and assistance from some citrus degreaser detergent. Or you may prefer to use canopy cleaner which should work well with the steam and scrubbing.

Expect the canvas to dry a little patchy after cleaning as you will almost certainly miss some areas at the first pass .

For the canopy windows - after cleaning off dirt - polish up using 'Pledge' multi surface cleaner which costs £1.

I used patio magic on my aged and quite stiff canvas hood. A few weeks later I took it off the boat, laid it out on a smooth surface and scrubbed it with a soft hand brush using some warm water with washing powder. I then gently pressure washed it on a low setting. Once refitted to the boat and left to dry for a couple of days, I reproofed it with Fabsil Gold. I am over the moon with the results and can assure you it's now so supple and waterproof, It looks as good as new.
