Cannes and the Lerins-Video

Not for me. With Germany placing the Cote d'Azur in a high risk area my work has a mandatory 14 quarantine policy on return and as I would choose to travel there the quarantine would be taken as leave.

Nah this is more like it

I can only imagine a buoy. Every time there are one of these big storms with strong southerly winds the combination of the wind and subsequent wave action usually claims a boat. I have no idea who owns the bouys and most of the boats look dated, but they are someones and so it is always sad to see.

It is still there and still getting waves washing up against it. Given all the damage on the Cote d'Azur from the storm I think getting a large enough crane for salvage might be tough right now and also I guess there will be the who is paying question as who knows the insurance status of the boat in the picture.

Interestingly , one season early on April May time , so just getting started .The first 3 times I pootled out to anchor to snorkel the sterngear re hygiene I only just missed under water wrecks .
The last was a sailboat mast about 2 m to the stern of the bathing platform, in 6/7 M or what ever but it’s tip was about a foot below the surface .Fortunately my son and I used the ladder as opposed to merrily dive in .

One was in the Lerins like on the vid an old boat sunk in the middle about 45 ft .Some divers had removed the cylinder heads .
Another was near Theuole , just lying there sat on the sea bed .
It had a tiny orange buoy , but not a full fat yellow + cross wreck one .
I thought it was a villa owners summer mooring buoy ......silly me !

One year we went to Corsica mid August ( school hols etc ) found / sought out a idyllic bay @ 5 pm for a night on the hook .
Picture the scene , blazing hot , a previous noisy party night in Calvi , we arrive in dead calm drop the hook get the tender out run ashore .When we return I fancy a evening swim to cool off and there’s a wreck under our hull .A change of wind = potential stern gear fouling.
It does not sell the place having to up anchor and move circa 9 pm after a jolly meal washed down with grape juice ashore .
