How long ago it was that following an indepth study,(cost cutting exercise) a certain minister said the MCA would be more efficient/effective/value for money, if it was reduced and relocated?

Only I now hear that there is some concern that there are more people drowning and that this might just be because there are insufficient Coastguards on the coast?

Yes rather ironic isn't it that the very govt which reduces funding then later issues a report citicising reduced performance as a result of cuts in personnel.

Just surprised that they haven't also recommended that all the valuable coastal sites be sold and the whole MCA move to cheaper inland locations.

Read about it in the papers. A Commons committee have slaughtered the MCA, totally disbelieving the evidence provided by the MCA in their defence.
