I have a Bayliner is good and well serviced condition. I want to have my boat at Ibiza for the summer. Is it possible to sail the boat over to save transport costs of £5k.

The boat has twins Merc D183's.

Depends on you more than the boat. As you have had to ask then the answer is probably no. Consider the canal route as this will be hugely cheaper on fuel and make a nice long holiday on the way rather than an epic fatiguing voyage. Whatever you decide it will be a grand adventure.

technically yes - if you have the time. via French canals in @ 6 weeks, round Gibraltar @ 2 weeks if (and a big if) you have the weather. Either route that fast would be hard work plus moorings, food etc. I'd phone around for a good deal on a lorry to the South of France

Of course you can sail to Ibiza, head South, dodge the sharp looking bits off the Channel Islands, hang a left at the big Rock and straight on till dawn.

But cos you have tiny tanks and its quite a long way, you are going to need one of these:

There are many many boats that could complete that trip if time and expence did not come into the equation and the skippers previous experience of long off shore coastal trips was not in question.

However in this particular case ?

It will save you nothing. As already pointed out, the fuel cost alone would be in excess of £5k. Then you've got the cost of moorings along the way, extra maintenance and breakdown costs and additional depreciation from putting those extra hours on the boat. My advice would be to shop around for the best possible deal and stick it on a truck to Port St Louis or Port Leucate. Then do the last 200 miles or so (ie the enjoyable bit) to Ibiza by sea. Also as Medskipper says, have you got a mooring in Ibiza already? The marinas there are very crowded and very expensive, at least in high season

The guys who owned Haslar, sailed their RIB down to Morocco for hols, so a Bayliner should make it.
PS
Pay my fare home/feed & water & I'll give you a hand.;)
