I know it's a VP but what model is it? Is it possible to tell from the pictures?

The boat is a 1980s Fairline Sedan 32.

I believe the sterndrives are 270 legs.

Thanks

Could be an early AQAD40 A ... in that case 130 Hp ... the B came out a couple of years later with 165 HP.. Guess the 270 leg will add to the clues as the B came out around the same time that Volvo released their first Duo-prop drive .. (290 ??) ..

I would suggest it is an A as it looks identical to the TMD40A on my last boat. If you want the workshop manual and spares lists please PM me. Not sure what the physical differences were from the A to B to C.

Thanks guys.

can I ask what the difference in the AQAD40 A and the TMD40A is?

Are the both the same engine?

Thanks

It looks to me a AQD40 as no aftercooler is seen, and i'm guessing it is a "A" model because of the 270 drives and the black volvo penta sticker. With aftercooler it is named AQAD40

Agree not an AQ'A'D - no aftercooler on this engine, the plastic air filter casing attaches directly to the turbo, which blows directly into the long inlet manifold with the nibs feeding to each cylinder along the top of the engine parallel with the rocker cover.

I also have a list of cross over parts for filters etc if required.

Be aware that the heat exchanger is a plate type, unique to VP, so an expensive and possibly obsolete item now if this fails.
