Can a Bowman charge air cooler become clogged on the air side?

Lynall,

About ten years ago I was asked to take serious look at Landrover 300 Tdi for installation in Bowler Wildcat.

Putting the 300Tdi across the dyno told a story.

#1 The standard VE pump was hopeless. Land Rover VE has a non linear output, juce up the pump, max power increases but bottom end collapses, no good for off-roading.

#2 Tubomachinery did not cut it.

I found VE used on 4 liter off 71/2 tonne truck motor with a linear output, using fuel pin from MAN truck and also well known that TD5 Garrett is great widget with correct manifold.

End result was solid 200 hp at the top with no compromise bottom end, rocket ship motor, did 3 for French race team.

Thats excellent info thank you.
Can you remember what truck the inj pump was fitted to? must have been a while ago as most stuff has been c/rail last 10 years or so.

PM me my injection shop has recipe and some good core, will certainly whip the ass if unit injector TD5.

First chance of a test run out today.
Time was very tight, I had to sort out another issue in the morning, and most of the tidal river I'm on is 6Knot speed limit.
So, a run down to the unrestricted zone gave me, quite literally, 2 minutes out there before I had to start heading back to berth in daylight.
Throttle wide open, revs up to 3500, boost at 10 psi, and revs climbing. Not sure when it happened, I was half watching the revs, whilst keeping an eye on where I was headed as well as a couple of distant raggies.
But, briefly, 3900rpm (on the tacho) 17 knots and she was skipping along the top, leaving the wake behind :)
As I say, there was literally no time to play with trim, or revs, or anything else, had to turn around head back but it appears to be fixed.
Huge thanks for everybody's help, I'm still amazed that a CAC can get clogged up like that. So, it's on the service schedule now, in 3 Years time it will be cleaned out again!
I'm a very happy bunny!!

Of course! excuse the stupid question. I'd thought that the pulley would give different readings depending on the size of it, it's too early in the day for me to think straight!
Thanks for the help,
