Vic - just read your blog about Cavtat and going round the corner to anchor when you check out.
BEWARE as we were advised in very strong terms that your yacht HAS to be on the customs quay to check in /out - you could fib I suppose !!
You quite right you are suppose To be on the customs quay to check in and out ( I sure I noted it on the site ) , we did go on the quay when we checked in , then moved off and anchored in the middle although when clearing out we won't bother , we will just anchor and go ashore in the. Dinghy , if they made a big deal about it , we will then have to go on the quay .
It like everything, you pay your money and take your chances .
I hope I didn't give the impression that people should anchor to clear or out , it just some thing I am planning to do . As I said , you pay your money and you take your chance .
The reason for this is because on the quay there are guys that want 6 Euros just to stay the small amount of time to check in , ok it didn't cost us anything , because I just walked past the guy and took no notices and when we came back he just looked at me and didn't approach me again . Now that is cheeky to charge to get onto the custom quay . And I did mention it to the harbour master and he looked a bit embarrassed , but didn't say any thing .
Anchoring in the middle is fine , the police said we couldn't the harbour master said it fine and the police have no say in running the harbour .
I guess the harbour master was right because that evening a few other yacht anchored with us .
Tawhirl.... Thanks I have now a few options , we going to try Rab first I understand there a good chance here ,
