Camping gas Croatia

Vic - just read your blog about Cavtat and going round the corner to anchor when you check out.
BEWARE as we were advised in very strong terms that your yacht HAS to be on the customs quay to check in /out - you could fib I suppose !!

You quite right you are suppose To be on the customs quay to check in and out ( I sure I noted it on the site ) , we did go on the quay when we checked in , then moved off and anchored in the middle although when clearing out we won't bother , we will just anchor and go ashore in the. Dinghy , if they made a big deal about it , we will then have to go on the quay .
It like everything, you pay your money and take your chances . :)
I hope I didn't give the impression that people should anchor to clear or out , it just some thing I am planning to do . As I said , you pay your money and you take your chance .
The reason for this is because on the quay there are guys that want 6 Euros just to stay the small amount of time to check in , ok it didn't cost us anything , because I just walked past the guy and took no notices and when we came back he just looked at me and didn't approach me again . Now that is cheeky to charge to get onto the custom quay . And I did mention it to the harbour master and he looked a bit embarrassed , but didn't say any thing .
Anchoring in the middle is fine , the police said we couldn't the harbour master said it fine and the police have no say in running the harbour .
I guess the harbour master was right because that evening a few other yacht anchored with us .

Tawhirl.... Thanks I have now a few options , we going to try Rab first I understand there a good chance here ,

We are just off the coast of Albania on our way back to Croatia from the Ionian.

There is no escape from the thunderstorms this year. The north Ionian is the same as croatia was for the couple of weeks before we left.

We've been here several times a year for the last six years and we've never seen anything like it. SWMBO is asking when are we going to get a decent nights sleep!

I like to see the heavenly fireworks occasionally but being caught out at sea with almost full sail and 35 kt winds from 15 kts a few seconds earlier is not my cup of tea!

Richard , the good news is we now had 60 hours with out a thunderstorm , that the longest we had for a while , it hot and the sun out which make the place look a lot more beautiful , we had a cracking sail from Krk and now anchored in Rab and hoping for a nice quiet night .
Only time will tell if our wish will come true .

Hi Vic

Guess what - as we sailed through the night up the Adriatic out came the thunderstorms to play although we managed to avoid them until dawn!

Got very wet but no damage done.

Currently about an hour from Cavtat and a beautiful morning here but see that further north more thunder is forecast.

Yep more forecaster , we in Losinj , beautifully sunny and hot morning , anchored with the most boats so far , about 20 , one with red ensign , with owner Italian , nice couple . Forecaster for to night is more thunderstorms , some thing to look forward to .
Till then we enjoy the day just chilling here .
