Calais lock gate

We went over to Calais on the ferry yesterday. I noticed that lock gates were in operation talking last. So it should now be possible to get up the ramp from the pontoon at low water springs without the use of Sherpas.

I do wonder if it might start to stink without it flushing out every tide.

I guess so. Either that or run for your life... after you've doubled your warps, at least.
