Expresso and cafetiere are entirely different flavours. You need to decide which you prefer. Filter is the other way similar to cafetiere. If money is not a big problem have you tried the plastic filter things they sell in supermarkets with coffee inside? Douwe Egberts if that is how its spelt are good. The Dutch had to find something to be good at, after the demise of the windmill and dyke, and they finally succeeded.
I agree that the Dutch are good at coffee, but neither the dyke nor the windmill are deceased. Windmills line the banks of most waterways in the Delta, albeit they are for power generation not pumping water (they have Archimedes Screws for that) and if it weren't for the dykes my house and office would both be under a couple of metres of water right now.
Back to the thread I bought one of these earlier this year for the boat - http://www.ethicalsuperstore.com/products/handpresso/handpresso-handheld-portable-espresso-machine/
Ludicrously expensive but fun to use and makes a very good single shot espresso - not so good for 3-4 cups, of course.
