Anyone heard about the 90ft timber gaff ketch (British Reg and flagged )that was chartered by Irish TV company doing one of those reality TV programmes to eliminate contestants by viewer voting. It ran aground off Tory Island in Donegal on friday 13th and broke up.Helicopter, lifeboat and other rescue services involved. All crew rescued
safely. It was called Cabin Fever for the purpose of the TV series but does anyone know what the vessels real name was?

Turns out to be a timber 1940s built converted trawler.Gaff schooner rigged and called either Carrie of Carmarthen or Carrie of Camaret .Seems they forgot there were rocks ectending up to half a mile offshore from Tory Island. There were only skipper and owner aboard who knew how to sail and nine greenhorns.

HI all,

Boat 'was' Carrie of Cameret. She was a 1900 Cray fishing boat. Originally built as a 'sailing fishing' boat she has a long history as a charter boat and was used in one of the recent 'Hornblower' TV series.

She is/was owned and skippered by a good friend of mine Roger Barton. Roger is a very experienced skipper and an accomplished sailor.

I'm in touch with him and all the crew and 'passengers' are OK but a bit shaken. there will be an official enquiry. So I'll post more details as and when.
