On the boat I have recently bought the C70 is not showing the speed. The boats position is shown on the map, and all data, and under way all is working ok except for the speed/knots. I am puzzled why, any suggestions?

Is it boat speed you're missing, or speed over the ground?
I'm going to assume you mean boat speed, and suggest you either don't have a transducer, it's disconnected, or the paddle wheel is clogged up with mud or barnacles.
Does it read zero, or blank? (On the speed instrument itself it reads "---" if the transducer is disconnected, but I don't know exactly how the plotter displays this.)

There are two speed readings available for display on the C series, SOG and STW, you need to configure the data bar to show either or both, it's all in the menu, obviously as said above you need the input for the speed through water to be present and working, but the GPS speed over the ground is always available if you display it.
The databar will label the two speeds as "GPS speed" and "speed"
