Can anyone explain in SIMPLE terms what the differences, pro's & cons are between NT+ and MAX with C-MAP?

I'm a COMPLETE newb with chartplotters - haven't even bought it yet (looking at the SH CP300i).

I'm more than a little befuddled at the the choices etc.

All input most welcome.

Thanks

My Cmap Max on SD card and Advansea plotter has tidal stream data and aerial photos of harbours and points of interest. I think thats the difference, but Im sure someone more knowledgeable will advise better.

Almost all chartplotters which will read MAX will also read NT+. Not so the other way round.

I have an old JRC1800 chartplotter which takes NT+, and its perfectly adequate.
My Netbook uses MAX on a different chartplotting programme through a card reader.

The pilotage is better in MAX, with lights, photos, tidal streams etc.

I don't think you can buy new NT+ cards, only exchange, and they will not be supported for ever.

SH300i you are looking at is a very good choice.

I've go SH 300 with Max and its fantastic, as far AFAIK NT+ is and older version and I dont think it will be offered by most suppliers. BTW I used MES, great price on mega wide chart. Sorry about all the anacronims, I'm a teacher we use them all the time because we can't spoll priperly!
