C Map charts - which one?

Not up to speed on this and ask for any advice available on best option for C Map electronic charts for coast hopping using a Standard Horizon 300i plotter. Area of coverage is the French Med. coast to Italian border. Also not sure of the differences and benefits of the "L" and "W" designations.
I think I need L11/M-EM-M072.15 and L33/M-EM-M073.15. Can anyone advise or confirm?

I've got the MW3 with my CP180i, that would more than cover your area. Here are the other Med ones, I think there are differences in the amount of data on the wide and the mega wide, the mega wide have live tide data which is very useful, if any of that helps...

Thanks djbreeze, that makes it clearer. I was thinking that the bigger the area the less detailed information on a specific location. Would that be the case?

No the MW (megawide) or Max (I think Max & MW are the same thing, it's all a bit confusing) has more detail and extras like the live tide data so if the funds will stretch to it I'd say go for that one, they sometimes come up on ebay as well (obviously varying degrees of out of dateness). They also now have "4D" charts but I don't know anything about them, info on their web site here...

If you don't find any offers at LBS, you might consider joining the Club Jeppesen (C-Map) outfit. Their 'Silver' annual membership cost €118 (at the start of the year) for which I get one C-Map NT Max chart each year (cheaper than most retail outlets) plus I was sent a free C-Map chart reader/plotter. The NT Max covers the whole of the Med and the Black Sea.

Do you need to have been a member for a minimum time or do you get the "freebies" when you first join?

Seems strange that they are prepared to undercut their agents/distributors in this way. Maybe they get a better margin and acceptable unit sales volumes to make it worthwhile.

It's an annual membership that starts when you pay up, and the freebie was on offer when I applied. Don't know about the marketing strategy, but I guess there's a thought that getting a customer to sign up makes it more likely that you stay with them?
