So Tuesday saw the departure of our Hardy Seawings 305 to her new West Country based owners. We covered nearly 3,500nm over five enjoyable years and she looked after us well, not letting us down once in any significant way. She will be missed.

I'm giving full marks to Ancasta at Swanwick for their efficient processing of the sale following the used boat show in September, and their assistance sorting a couple of issues post survey. In fact, Aurelia is one of the featured boats in the December MBM hitting doormats now, page 83 !

Our new acquisition, which we completed on back at the tail end of September, is a lightly used Jeanneau Prestige 34 sport top. She has a tough act to follow but I'm optomistic she's up the challenge. Now on the hard being fettled, I'm looking forward to making a Christmas shopping trip to Cowes within the next few weeks.

On a slightly less good note, talking to MDL I've discovered that the berth cost per metre of LOA is higher once you go over 10m. We've gone from 9.5m to 10.2m LOA (feels like a heck of a lot more on-board though) and the annual cost has gone up by over £800 :( I'm therefore investigating joining the under-the-bridge gang in the upper reaches of the Hamble, where it seems I can berth for over £1.5k less p.a. than Chichester Harbour. I'll also save a pile of fuel as 4 times out of 5 we head out of Chi and head west into the Solent anyway, so looking likley we'll make the move for April.
