Buying in Italy

We have sold a number of boats to and from Italian clients and Leasing companies in recent years and we ALWAYS use a company who specialises in Registration and Transfer of Title. It is a nightmare in Italy, far more documentation is required than in any other country I know. I do not fully understand the system so I would not risk it by not using one of these services. My understanding is a Notary is always required. One of the companies we have used in the past is

well also in our case they used an Agency, called Nauticar in San Remo to do the paperwork, but I was not involved as this was completely up to the seller / broker, according our sales agreement

yes thats what we've heard and experienced ourselves, it took a few months to get the final documents. (un-registration of the flag)
Here in Belgium, this can be done in one day.

Yup, I know them in Lignano as I used them to arrange the lift out and survey for my current boat and they were pretty efficient.

Thanks guys, some interesting stuff here. What the Broker is saying sounds like buying a boat in the UK i.e. contract and bill of sale. If a notary is required for any transfer of title in Italy then it is difficult to see how the broker could do it.

Question is why would they say they that they can do it?
