I live in Uk and my boat is currently in Preveza, any suggestions on the best way to get a new genoa made?
Being in the UK it would probably be easier to deal with a British Sailmaker, but then I have the problem of transporting it.
I don't know any sailmakers in Greece that I can rely on, so has anyone here been in a similar situation that may have the solution?
Thanks

Hi Hannabella...our boat is currently at the Cleopatra yard in Preveza..They have a sailmaker there ... a lady by the name of Corrinne (sp?) We got her to make a boat cover and were very pleased with the result. I would certainly give her a try..problem is that she speaks very little English, however the girl who runs the office is excellent and can translate.I have been in her sailmakers workshop and it is a proper set up. Don't know about prices but we felt we got good value for what we paid.

Hi Jamesmar
I am in Cleopatra and have used the lady concerned for sail repairs, she did do a good prompt service. However she doesn't actually make sails and contracts that out, but who to and what quality Im not certain.

Hi Hannabella..I Didn't realise that she does not make sails..I will be interested to know how you get on,(for future reference.)

You could try Sioux Sails in Vliho although they don't make themselves, I believe they can supply. The simpler option is to have it made here, but delivered to the yard at Preveza. Sure Crusader could do this. Basically you can have anything delivered anywhere, if you don't want to drive out. Or do what I did and sail up to Trieste so it is easy to drive there!

I think they are capable of making a sail but as far as I know do not have any computer designing equipment. I would take them the old sail and indicate the alterations you want. They are two Greek men and a few staff, sometimes British. The two Greek men have been very good to me pricewise and have been in business since 2000 to my knowledge. They are making me a spray hood at the moment.

I got a quote for a Bimini etc from Sioux Sails in Nidri and it was three times the price of Waypoint. Maybe better quality but there was nothing wrong with Waypoint bimini except they are always very busy. Correct me if I am wrong but I think Sioux are a German/English couple and that may account for their realistic prices.

sailed for a few years in that area, have a sail made in the u.k. and send it on a carrier to the boat yard or as luggage on your next trip out. vavrona.
