I recently purchased a Snapdragon 26 and have been told that I may need to replace the Main I have been quoted €1,000 about £640 sterling. Can any body tell me if thats a reasonable price.

I would expect to pay at least £100 less than you were quoted in the UK. Try shopping around locally as well as the major manufacturers. It is worth spending a few £'s on phone calls. If you have been quoted Euro's, then you must be out of the UK in which case there may be extra shipping charges etc.

Not too bad depending on the quality and material, is it fully battened , how many reefs, etc, etc. Does the price include VAT? I would shop around - try Crusader at Poole, but they all do quotes by email.

If you want much more info try http://www.uksailmakers.com/1

I paid £460 for Main to fit 26 footer with battons and numbers etc inc bag, that was from Lucas Sails Portsmouth about a year ago.

I have recently had a new mainsail from "Arun Sails"for my Anderson 22 . smaller than yours and with 2 reefs battens numbers etc cost £420 inclusive.

Some firms charge extra for numbers and sail insignia so check what your getting for your money.

This is the second sail I have had from Arun both excellent.

Thank you for your comments and advice. I should have said that I live outside Dublin, Ireland hence the €. I have emailed Sailsdirect as suggested and some others for quotes, but there will be shipping costs etc. so I will wait and see. I have also decided to take my sail to the local sailmaker and see if I can move him off the the price. I did'nt question him when he told me the what the cost would be (heart almost stopped) if it included emblems and number, the Snapdragon includes a red dragon and a number. Again thank you
