Buyer Beware - Barden UK and Rolls Deep Cycle Marine Batteries.

There is a Med Section seminar at CA tomorrow. One subject is "Power: Generation, Storage, Conservation and Monitoring". No doubt someone will raise this in conversation.

I think this might be a misreading of the OP.

You are correct, Rolls never admitted that they had a problem with some of these batteries. It was the only conclusion I could draw when they no longer responded to my emails about returning one for testing. In fact I have just re-visited the extensive email string with Bardens and it all went quiet after Barden's said that they would copy all of my emails to Rolls to see if they could determine the possible cause of the premature failure and ask for some warranty support. They never responded to any of my emails after that, forcing me to leave the failed batteries for recycling as you cannot just give a carrier four wet lead acid batteries and ship them to either Athens or back to the UK as they are classed as extremely hazardous cargo so I needed the input and the support from the Athens Distributor to be able to move them. Barden's are obviously aware of this and just played for time.

Thanks for this, I won't be looking to buy my next four from these people or the make come to that. This type of 'duck and dive' is all to prevalent in many businesses today, string them along and they will go away is the modus operandi. They only get one chance with me, then feet do the walking.
Thanks again

agree entirely, so +2

I use 120 AH general purpose standard size lead acid tractor/commercial vehicle lorry batteries obtainable from any commercial motor factors or agricultural equipment supplier world wide. -just about liftable and cost about £100 each. One for start;two aux. with a switching system such that I can switch any or all to aux or to start and completely isolate any dud batteries.
Anyone of them is more than big enough to spin my 44 hp Merc engine if if only partly charged-You will find little more than a 60 or so AH battery on most car/4x4 diesels..

cheap local - and not just batteries!

Also, tell Barden (or give them this website ybw.com) and tell them that the word gets around!

Also, try a similar tack on CA and a couple of the associations eg Westerly Owners Association

- I bet if you do they may offer you a solution to stopping you tell your story!!

Why not update their Facebook page while you're at it
Do I have the right company ?
