I know theres loads of threads on copper coat already but I have been really impressed so far. Boat was blasted and coated in January this year - This summer the difference in equivalent conditions is really noticable. I have to have the bottom jetwashed @ June/July because of the furries growing really quick what ever you use. However there was less furries than usual after 7 months. So with freshly cleaned off CCoat the boat went like it was new again - accelerated really well, slightly higher top speed @ 1kn and fuel burn improved by @ 3% - not a lot I agree but all savings welcome. I can't say it is all due to CC as previously the boat had 7 years of old and not well applied antifoul on it. But the effect of a really, really smooth bottom is quite marked. (and the smug satisfaction of knowing my antifouling days are hopefully over, except the props which is easy)
Also invested in a new anchor - always contentious but might help someone make a choice. Lots of seagrass around where we cruise and I have always had problems getting a delta or similar to dig in. Looked at getting a 40Kg delta but it won't fit in the sealine moulded bow shape so before getting someone to remodel the bow in fibreglass I thought I would try a 33Kg Rocna which does fit. Droped it in seagrass and it dug in immediately - put both engines in reverse still dug in, increased engine speed - still dug in until windlass clutch started to slip. Anchored in other places too with similar results. (PS I dont generally stress the windlass - just wanted to see how hard I could pull)
Finally - I always like looking at other peeps pictures so can anyone guess where we are moored?
