Yep, we're quite inventive with that sort of stuff and it's probably a contributing reason to why SA has the highest murder rate in the world.

All you need really , is a fine mesh to act as a ground plane , laid on the deck and connected to the earth side of the shock box , then a wire run around the entrance points , insulated from the mesh and connected to the live wire . The box kicks out a high voltage pulse that will give most peeps a kick as the current flows through from foot to hand

That just doesn't work for me because they will probably have a generator running and that always completely ruins an anchorage.

IMHO opinion, guns are a no no. Simply because the bush telegraph will ensure every local that has ambitions to own a gun, will target your boat as soon as he learns that you have one aboard. It is unlikely that he will have come across a cattle prod and therefore won't understand it; and may think of it as 'richman's magic'.

totally agree , there is no place on a boat for guns , but cattle prods have to be charged and accessible easily , but not accidentally

Heard somewhere during my wanderings that US flagged boats are morely to be broken into because they are more likely to have firearms aboard. That'll learn them for having a gun-mentality.
