BUGGER

Green Shield Stamps .... blimey - memories !! I remember the GS Stamp shops !

Yes - some deliverys will have had additives added as the trucks load ... but over the years - that has reduced - till now its rare. The economics of Fuel today basically do not cover such anymore.

I can remember at Stanlow - Shell Lab guys dosing ships tanks with Mileage Additive ... but they used to smile when they said what it was ...

You may remember a few years back where an operator put wrong additive into Gasoline at West Thurrock Storage. That gasoline then went out to Petrol Stations and then the claims started .... if you remember it - you will also know that it was not just one Oil Co. that was sued ... it hit most of the Brands - including Supermarket fuel (which actually is branded gasoline supplied by contract - tender is regularly fought by them all).
A solicitor friend of mine who practiced in Grays was barred from the bench & given 6 years imprisonment for falsifying the documentation from Pactank who supplied us. I think that was connected to the case. It certainly involved dodgy fuel. I was using it in my plant & a lot of it suddenly broke down or started running badly.
My own business was based in Grays since 1964

I was an International Regional Manager for a Company based in West Thurrock before the tank mixup - so had a good idea what happened when I heard about it ...

There was also a level of excessive claims from Public who jumped on the bandwagon ... once some heard that payouts were literally uncontested - the claims blossomed ....
It was estimated 'in the industry' that a significant number of claims were bogus. The biggest supporter of that was the geographical location of claims and the stations that received faulty fuel.
