There is no real "genuine" brand, it's not exclusively produced by one company. Buegel just means "handle" or "roll-bar" in German.
The closest you get to a genuine type, and the only one I'd recommend as far as quality is concerned, is WASI (German steel firm), but they only make stainless versions (expensive):

There are a multitude of cheap knock-offs, especially in the Med, but most are of extremely poor quality and I would exercise extreme caution.
put "bugel type anchors" into google or the like and you will get some results.yachting monthly did a 14 anchor test ,which had bugel type on them as well with dist/manufacturer namess
i've met many boats in portugal and in the med with non stainless bugel type anchors and they don't seem to have any problems with their "cheap knockoffs" they all looked well used and there was no evidence on the boats of large holes in the hull etc due to the "cheap" anchor dragging,or breaking i have 2 on board, made to specifications that were in 2 pbo project articles a couple of years ago and have found them to be excellent.holding in most seabeds and setting well.
Thinking "bugel" because it has a lot thinner shank to get into my hawse, well it's more square than the rocna, as the rocna as you well know is deep but thinner in section. The spade is also out for the same reason, as is the other one, cany mind the type now.
Maybe gonna have to get a "rip-off" made, but have to be a good rip-off!

Does this mean that Spade and Rocna were your preferred choices, other than the shank issue?
I'd go with a rocna, oceane or spade fed up with all the old designs and believe me I've tried them all!
But wouldnt fit in my hawse, that's for sure. Englander has a bow roller, but theres no way, without very major work, I could stow an anchor on it, not a big one anyway, look bloody stupid as well. The roller is really for running a mooring line over.

They call it a stockanchor, that's what it is?

They got the translation (and spelling) wrong on the English page though. The link went to the German page, which is, of course, correct. Lesson to be learned by this is never to trust in webdesigner's translations. I doubt Herr Chandler did the website, let alone the English one by himself. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
