Budget for an autopilot (37-40ft boat)

Ha! I have just read this thread as the autopilot is the next big item on Big Red. She has a Whitlock Mamba steering gear with a drag link and small it is not! Dave at Hudson Marine recommends going with the hydraulic drive, so the budget is c. £5.5K... but I want to fit a separate tiller rather than go through the steering gear. The Monitor will drive through the gear though. Oh yes, we have an emergency tiller... probably need a crane to fit it!

I can't speak highly enough of the Mamba drive unit and it will fit perfectly under your pedestal.
