Brugge instead of Oostende

I am beginning to wonder if we will get over in time for a snag off the bbq!
If we depart late fri we will be pushing it to make Zeebrugge by 1900hrs ish. Reckoning if we can at least make constant our average boat speed will need a good 18hrs.
May well have to fall back to plan A which was to go to Ostende and have a few days ashore then back home.
haven't yet made it to an ECF event!

Was in Brugge 6 & 7 Apr and we berthed at BZYC. Club wasn't open but locals friendy and we were given access to showers. Day we sailed was lift in day.

Presume you will lock in via southern (smaller) lock. Do not attempt to go on the north wall of the lock - it isnt straight sided. Use south wall (starboard side to when entering from the sea.

City pictureque - just forgot the camera! Lots of chocolate.

We'll be in Oostende as will Sailorman - it's a short train ride into Brugges which I'm planning to do as a day-trip (probably Saturday) so your plan A is a good one

I have e-mailed the Club indicating that there are 6 or 7 boats intrested in visiting them on Saturday 28th May.

Black Magic would like to come but we have too many variables at the moment to commit (crew, work, holidays, money - you know, the usuals!). Hope to be better positioned to commit by the end of April.

@Slow Boat
There is not alot of differance in the crossing distance.
Maybe an hour longer.

Ostend

Apologies as all the charts are on the boat.......

But (roughly) from Bradwell how many NM's is it to Ostend? what is the "usual" journey time? (I know there are a lot of varibles - but an average time would be great).

Many thanks in advance

Ian and Sarah

Reeds gives the distance from Brightlingsea to Ostend as 88 miles, I would expect that the distance from Bradwell will be within a mile or two of that.

we also hope to be going over 26th or 27th and popping up to brugge by boat.
we have been in from Zeebrugge many years ago and remember a low bridge at the end just before you enter the roundabout locks at brugge but cannot remember any restrictions from minniewater brugge to oostende, may be someone can confirm this is still the same please
thanks
