I have the book metal boats by Roberts I will post it to you if you want. I also have some study plans if I can find them. I was going to build one but decided to buy a feltz www.feltzboote.de I think they might supply plans but not sure. Also look at Van der Stadt they also do kit boats as well as Dudly Dix. All very good modern designs.
I bought a second hand one as I could not wait for one to be built even the re-fitting is taking too long.
Once went to his office.. very impressed. Lots of work going on in yard with Roberts yachts of all sizesand shapes being built
Friend of mine has one and loves it
I decided on a van de stadt as there was one for sale shell only , professionally built. I fitted it out myself ( made lots of mistakes) but loved it. Saving for a 48' vds now

Unless you want to build a Spray for emotional or romantic reasons (which reasons I am not knocking) from what I have seen of them a modern design would be far superior in almost every way.
Used to be a forum member (Arcturus?) who had a Roberts Spray (I think it was), but he swapped it for a Najalorassy. If he's still around I'm sure chapter and verse will be forthcoming.
Which model are you looking at? I've looked into building a Spray 370B (wheel house version) in the recent past.
If you have the skills, time and space to DIY that's one thing, but if you are considering commissioning a yard to complete it then your budget could be way off!
Sample rough estimate I put together was:
£17k steel kit
£20k build
£100k internal fit out (4,000 man-hours work)
£? rig (spars/rigging/sails)
£? engine (30-80HP?)
£? electronics (nav/instruments/radar/autopilot)
So, not a cheap boat by any means! Good luck if you decide to go for it.
