I've no recent experience with brokers, but expect those who gave poor service have had their interview with Darwin a while ago.

My girlfriend is currently looking for a house ( it's proving amazingly difficult, no-one is selling ) and has registered with / hassled quite a few estate agents.

Must say I've been pleasantly surprised by them compared to moderately poor experiences in the 1990 era, they seem honest and willing, to the extent they warn us off places which might at first seem OK; our only complaint would be they don't always forward details of all the - few - suitable places available very quickly.

I don't think chancers get very far these days ! :)

Never had a problem with broker or estate agent, just intelligent help. 'Fair' comes to mind. Sorry, no news there eh.

In bits at the moment as i refit!

New wiring going in, just been and bought all the bits for plumbing, headlining down for new material, varnish bought... Slowly but surely!

That's proper boating!

Here's me cruising the Caribbean. i.e. fixing boats in exotic places :D

Tape will never keep the water out:eek: you should know by now that all deck fittings and chain plates should have adequate backing and be properly bedded and sealed:D

I have to say I have first hand experience of Jonic's frustrations being in one side of a recent deal. I shan't go into details on here, but suffice to say Jon worked blimming hard to keep the whole thing together, and in the end both the seller and buyer were complimenting him on how well he had managed it.

We once sold a house to a solicitor and when he visited the second time we got into a casual conversation about the stress involved. His comment was that "buying houses can bring out the worst in people" - he then spent the next 8 weeks proving it to us!

A good negotiation is a when all parties are satisfied with what may be a compromise. Some people seem to feel the need for brinkmanship and late concessions, which not only create bad feelings but dont actually achieve the best results for themselves.

Wise words, Mr M Nick. Some people think they know the price of everything, but possibly not the value of anythiong much. Which makes 'em destined for a miserable life IMO! Stay away from me.

No no no. If you knew me, I don't do common sense.

Just try to avoid unnecessary stress/ stressed up people! That way the beer tastes better. Cheers

......that's what we as brokers are having to put up with at the moment from alleged buyers. (That fooled you didn't it :) )

...

Rant over.

Can be sellers as well. We recently lost a fair amount of money in survey fees etc. when it transpired that the seller was failing to disclose defects they knew about.

Decided that purchasing a second hand yacht was just too painful and are now awaiting delivery of our brand new Jeanneau.
