British Motor Yacht Show

Not us this year unfortunately due to a pre existing commitment but I hope that all those who are attending enjoy it and that the exhibitors who take the trouble to put the show on get something out of it

I agree
The P54 has always been a favourite of mine
The lines and the layout
SWMBO doesn't like the galley on the accommodation deck though.

I've heard the wiser money gets spent on a P50. Something to do with owners being better looking and the lines of the boat having pheromone like properties whereby bikini clad babes literally throw themselves at you. Just what I've heard :)

Hey, beggars can't be choosers.

The P60 is a very easy boat to fall in love with. Nothing to upset, everything in it's place and long enough that there don't need to be many compromises.

Henry :)

Or even a P67 - the perfect boat :D:D

Hi Henry,

Sunseeker are exhibiting the following craft - 80 & 68 Sport Yacht - Manhattan 55- San Remo 485 & finally a Portofino 40.

Fairline are possibly aiming mainly @ the uk market hence the 48 footers and will cater for the global market @ SIBS

The only P43 that is available to view is the one on the hard adj to Peter Harwards office which I looked at last week which can be viewed by prior appointment as it is not in the main concourse area - For me I would go for a late used P54 which offers more volume and is a beautiful boat imho oh and you will also have some change to fill her up with some diesel :encouragement:

Best

Terry :encouragement:

There are two princess 43s here now.

We will be arriving mid-day Friday and leaving on Saturday afternoon as have another function to attend - Sunday shall be overseeing Lions Den's annual maintenance programme which is being undertake @ Endeavour Quay as usual.

Great yard and LD was expertly hauled out earlier today by Tim's guys and placed in it's cradle ready for my own team to commence work in a couple of days time - No contractors access fees apply here btw :encouragement:

Hope to see some off you whilst down in Swanwick.

Footnote - Endeavour Yacht Services went bust last week but apparently up and running under a different banner within a week :(

Mike [Hurricane] Please don't forget to bring some off those lovely chocolates from your village with you - The ones you bought last year for MatchII was truly scrummy :encouragement:
If you can only bring a few please drop them into Princess's office as will be nice to wash these down afterwards with the champers :D
Perhaps you can ask the nice people at Endeavour Yacht Services to pay me the money they owe my Company when they bumped me ? Surprised, you are willing to give them your hard earned.

Sorry to hear that Roy.

Although just round the corner from Haslar I shall vote with my feet and use another yard this year if they have knocked you. When they steal from you they steal from all of us.

They talk a very good game on the website, "just completed the first of 6 re-fits for the Navy" etc. etc.

Henry

It is not Endeavour Quay that has gone bust. They are great.
It is Endeavour Yacht Services who have ceased to trade.

Endeavour Yacht Services [EYS] - Endeavour Quay [EQ] Clarification Notice

Just to confirm that EQ are the landlords of the EQ site which includes the following tenants - You Boat - Kemp Sales - UK Docks amongst others.
EQ also provide a Boat Lift chock off and re-launch service and do not use subcontracted labour [All boat handling and office staff are PAYE Employees].

EQ offer an all-in antifoul package which they used to partner with EYS until two years ago when EYS went bust since then they use another on-site company called UK Docks who are a totally independent company.

EQ offer a brilliant service - may not be the cheapest out there but hey when your pride and joy is being lifted....

Princess Yachts use them for the big stuff that Swanwick cannot handle - Clipper etc. as well as Lions Den :encouragement:

I will post this under a separate thread - Mike apologies for the thread drift that I started
Now let’s all get back on track with the BMYS Thread ;)

Right then, back on track....

All this talk of boats is drifting away from the real question we all want to know, who is serving what in terms of free food ?

Princess have taken the fancy finger food route of late, an occasional Russian roulette with horseradish minefields to step through but on the whole very tasty. A man of my powerful construction and athletic prowess finds himself constantly searching for the next mouthful. A far cry from the Princess Swanwick BBQ weekend where good solid burgers prevail.

The thinking marketing managers choice would of course be pies. A decent game pie or three with chicken pies as a vegetarian option. Crumbly pastry, good solid filling. Ah yes :)

I can't understand why one of the big manufacturers hasn't snapped up my services on an advisory capacity. Maybe they think offering the vegetarian option is just too radical. Who knows ?

Henry :)

I'm not going to be able to go to BMYS this year; will miss it and hope everyone has a good time. I think it is a great effort by the UK Big3 and makes for a really nice boutique boat show in very fine surroundings

Yes that was a nice evening we had last year and it was really nice to put faces to names for the first time as well as catch up with old faces. We had over 50 people on Match that evening! (With free paid-for-by-Essex-Boatyards food, as you'll recall Henry:D). If I or many others on here had a newly delivered boat I'd/they'd love to do it again but the cookie didn't crumble that way this year.

I agree the Big3 dealers are missing out in not throwing a bit of a party on one of the boats with drinks and canapés, but I guess their problem is that all the big boats belong to customers who don't allow 50 people to attend a party organised on the internet (pity; those owners are missing out on a nice evening with great company, if only they realised... :))

Anyway, best wishes to all you partiers and hope you have a great weekend :D. Post pictures next week please!

Talking to John Tipton last week I am sure he said that Princess had the BBQ cleaned and polished ready for this weekend.

Of course, if you got a VIP ticket from Princess then it is champers and Canapés.

Ok so if you can spot my boat in this picture, you can win yourself a cup of. tea, coffee or a fruit or hops based beverage.

The clues are she is small, has a mast and is wooden. Winners may present themselves in person and claim their prize. I should be around on Saturday.

Yes it was at princess

There is live music and dancing Friday and Saturday too

Returning for sat :-)

You're a luckier man than me :(

Tell me what it was like, possibly try and sneak a peanut under the security rope for us - Actually peanut smuggling at a VIP event might not be a good idea :)

I'll have to start talking nicely to the people at Sunseeker !

Henry :)
