British Motor Yacht Show 2017

Saturday's looking pretty reasonable for a Boat Show stroll around so I think we're off there for a couple of hours early/mid morning then back home for gardening etc. I also like the Poole show but haven't done Swanwick for 2 years now so it's that for this year, looks like the main guys have a better showing although not as many smaller, niche type stuff or trade stands, unless that's changed from our last visit ? Don't know anyone from here but will look out for any forumites I might recognise from posts.

I shall be there form early afternoon onwards. I'm very tall dark and handsome so will be easily spotted (that's a bit of a lie, look out for a short fat git hanging around the Fairline stand and that will be me)!

Incidentally I see that Princess now have a 49 at the show but viewing is "by appointment only", which is a bit of a shame and unusual for this event. Anyone know why, is it a customer boat perhaps?

Shame, heavy shower at lunchtime.

As usual nice atmosphere and Sunseeker / Prinncess put on a nice pontoon viewing session, well relaxed.
Fairline did not get their new F/B to swanwick so missed a huge trick IMHO.

Some nice motors and the usual side show stuff. Forecast better for Saturday so will look out for forumites then.

The Princess P49 is a borrowed customers boat but easy to view.

Is the Sq53 going to be there tomorrow?

Oh dear, that's a shame about the Squadron 53. It's been a long time promised and I would have thought the perfect boat for this show. It's all well & good bringing 95 foot giants to dream over but for the UK market 53 feet is perfect.

Ultimately that's the only genuine current boat they have in the line up from what I can see so a true reflection of what New Fairline offer and what the direction they are heading.

I saw a Targa GT heading into the marina as I left yeasterday en route to Haslar.

See you all tomorrow. Like Pete I'm also tall dark and handsome :)

Henry :)

Henry, I agree . I wanted to compare the Princess 49, V48, SS and the new fairline as they are perfect Uk boats and fit well with what I want to do currently.

The Fairlines are not ex factory. The Sq is still at the factory! The local brokers are disappointed as you can imagine.

The P62 is wonderful - massive and for once galley aft seems to work cos there is enough beam to have the dining area opposite a la S60

See you on the morrow?

Yes, I'll s the you tomorrow. I agree with you he Princess 62. I had a quick peek around and thought how well it would work as a family boat.

I'll have another poke around tomorrow. I think that 62 is available if you fancied it. You could be living the dream by next weekend !

I'm like Pete, only I'm taller, not particularly dark, nor handsome, but will be there tomorrow afternoon.

Yes and I'm easily spotted too because I bear a striking resemblance to George Clooney;)

We really enjoyed our few hours there, both Sunseeker and Princess very accommodating and informative
Shame that Fairline had a "by appointment only" sign on all their boats, why bother coming?
Stuff 'em, ill fantasise about the Sunseeker Manhattan 52 tonight!

Yep, the Sunny is a great boat. Some of the interior feels a bit Ikea, but what do you expect for £1 million?

Even though the Fairline boats had 'By Appointment' signs on them, I had no problem walking on any of them this morning, and the staff were most accommodating, though it was a real shame they didn't have the new SQ53, and think they missed a great opportunity to display it alongside its main competitors.

I thought the fit and finish of the Princess boats were suburb and, IMHO, really showed up the IKEA look of the Sunseekers.

Overall, I really enjoyed the Show, without any hassle of viewing any of the boats....well done to all concerned!!

Great to catch up with Jez, Deleted User and Jimmy the Builder today. Sadly I was short on time so didn't see any boats. Henry, clocked you but you were deep in conversation with James Barke so I didn't interrupt. Next time maybe.

On seeing Fairline's 'By Appointment only' signs I simply walked right on by.

Having to view by appointment would not be so bad were there somewhere to actually book an appointment, or are you supposed to grovel at the pontoon ' ... please can I have a look, Sir, please ... ' - bollocks to that.

Thanks Sunseeker and Princess for the efforts to open your boats and let us freely view.
