Britain's best estuaries

Re: Britain\'s best estuaries

We are 18 Metres or so air draft - and I also get the heeby jeebies going under the power lines up the Tamar. However, having looked at the clearance of the masts under the wires from down river, I wonder whether they allow some safety margin. I keep meaning to ask the Hydrographers what they actually do for power cable heights.

Mean Spring Range at Cargreen is 4.7m and at Cotehele Quay is 4.2m - so half-tide up or down gives you an extra 2m+ on top of the charted heights of the cables. You might have to wait a little longer for the one at Weirquay on a falling tide, but you should be able to get under the one at Weir Point south of Cargreen. I do understand your reluctance, though.
Pity, you must miss so much.
