Have made it to Oz in our little rust bucket; left Brighton (UK, not the Brighton 10 miles from Brisbane!) on August 2nd last year. Got a marina berth in Raby Bay, a few minutes walk away from K's Mums house for 3 months, and a lift out booked in a few days time, so hopefully we won't be looking quite so scruffy after we do a bit of painting. Very weird sleeping in a real bed and having access to baths and shops selling familiar goods, and everyone speaking English (well sort of!! :) )

Any Oz forumites more than welcome to come and say hi, any tips for cruising up the coast next year also very welcome.

Thanks go to Lenseman of this parish for providing weather updates to our satellite phone every 3 days, as a back up if our emailed gribs failed.

many thanks for the link to your blog.

a brilliant way of spending a cold rainy sunday morning in London.

We are planning a similar trip and are fitting the boat out slowly with an aim to leave within the next 24 months.

Its blogs like yours that give people like us the impetus to stop dawdling and get on with it.

Enjoy Brisvegas.

Wish we could join you, but we left Oz a few months back, having had to sell our boat there due to ill-health. One year to get there is impressive, it took us 7, but we did go the scenic route.

Don't miss the Sydney New Year fireworks which we watched last year, a truely impressive spectacle. Be sure to take your yacht, as you get the best view by far from the water, but it's overcrowded and tiresome on land.
