Brest, New \" Chateau\" Marina

There is a new marina inside the naval port area in Brest called " Chateau" which opened this year does anyone know anything about it ?

The info I could find on the internet is fairly scant.

Re: Brest, New \" Chateau\" Marina

Thanks Rally Veterran that is ideal.

I understand that whereas the Moulin Blanc Marina is Ok it is a fair hike to the city whereas the new le Chateau is central and in walking distance.

I would apreciate Muddysox's views if he has bene there.

Re: Brest, New \" Chateau\" Marina

This google satellite image predates the new marina, but I think it is on the left, just to the east of the mouth of the Penfeld River. Moulin Blanc is clearly seen on the right and is, as you rightly state, much further from the city centre.

Chateau Marina, Brest

Excellent marina at mouth of Penfold River. Visitor moorings on inside of outer breakwater and on pontoon opposite. Take taxi to to far end of mole to save yourself a walk. 30 euros from airport. Showers, etc very convenient, but 4 min walk to helpful capitainerie. Lot of steps up into the town, but road is a pleasant walk. Rue de Siam has lots of restaurants and bars, but restaurants and bars on quayside just as good. Shopping limited at Le Morzellec on Rue Jean-Marie but bread is available from good boulangerie. If victualing in Brest two supermarkets are in Rue de Siam, and for 5 euros Shopi will deliver to the quayside. Mooring overnight cost 29.50 euros for 11m yacht (Sept 2009) including elec and showers. Free wi-fi.
