What tool do I need to relplace bravo 3 anodes, I have a socket set but none will fit, the head of the fixing screws are obstructed by the bulk of the zinc anode, my socket won't fit in?

Mine are Alpha 1 ser.2, but here's a set for yours. Which ones do you mean?

Thanks Carlton, I got the set from MG Duff this morning, there is an additional couple of anodes on the B3 for 04 up including a prop anode.
Is there are special tool I need to be able to carry out the replacement?

That's it, the screws have unusual heads, what kind of tool is needed to undo the old anode and refix the new?

Bearing in mind that I'm familiar with Alphas rather than Bravos, I'd be guessing. BUT - looking at the second picture above, there appear to be some raised head type machine screws there, which would suggest Allan Key fitments.

Surely you've been supplied with the correct machine screws for fitting the new anodes ? What type of head are they ? Allan/Phillips/Slot ?

As you're replacing the old anodes anyway, you could carefully chip off the remaining anode material to expose the screw heads.

As a last resort, you could maybe telephone your supplier - they should know.

Thanks Carlton, I broke the old ones off as you suggest, the existing screws have a bolt type head so I could then get a small socket on to release.

Allen keys will fit but I have just noticed the new anodes are aluminium and not the zinc I ordered!

FFS!

Thanks for your help.

I have a bravo 3 and replaced anodes several times, I have used box standard socket set although the machine screws for the ram anodes needs to be fairly slim. I always use mercruiser parts which of course are now ali

cheers
