I would have several if I could ever find the damn things when I need them ......
As a visitor it was a bit annoying having to stump up a deposit for the key to the ablutions or being required to use the somewhat less salubrious facilities in the white tower if needed out of hours
My current marina gives me a number of crew passes so they don't have to feed the pay and display machine, it would put me off there wasn't a similar arrangement at Bradwell.
Such a small part of what a marina has to offer. £1 flat fee to get in.

Thanks very much for your assistance. You all in similar ways remind me of my summers at this place in the 70's on my fathers westerly. There we where 6 law graduates parents away did we have fun and very fond memories. There was one particular incident in which some very kind people saved me from my parents wrath. Very embarrassing yes but one of the party, how a senior judge I might add, reminded me of it the other day and strangely wishes to return.
Elsie, look forward to seeing you on the East Coast. Apart from the marinas, not much has changed here since the 70s, luckily.

I expect several people here may have occasion to drive (by land) into Tollesbury from time to time.
Next time, you might like to slow down and read the words written in small letters - underneath the word Tollesbury on the official name signs (both sides) at the entrance to the village. Might make you smile........![]()
You mean this sign shown here? (You may need to pan round to see the sign)

No, I mean the official black and white village name sign on both sides of the road at the entrance to the village. There is also an official sign at the parish boundary, but that is further out.
It says "Reduce your speed", so what is special about that?
Look again![]()
I have and it still says "Reduce your speed"
Is the difference between what I, and others I suspect, am looking at is on Google Earth and several years old whereas you're seeing it in real life. A 'Banksy' addition perhaps?
I haven't looked on Google Earth, but if you can see a line of very small text in black letters, same font as the sign, directly below the village name and above the injunction to reduce your speed, that's the one. It's the same on both signs, either side of the road. If not, Google's photo is quite well out of date.
No. What I see has been there for quite a long time, was still there today, and was definitely not contributed by Banksy or any of his emulators. In fact, if you don't actually read it you wouldn't suspect that it is not part of the official sign. However, if you do read it, you will probably doubt that it was put there by the County Council.

Oh come on. Someone tell what it says for goodness sake![]()
