We are based in Port Solent and being in our mid 70’s not as nimble as we used to be. I would like to fit a bowthruster to our Bavaria 34 to assist close quarter handling. Has anyone used Goodacre Boats, also based in PS for such installations, or perhaps have any other recommendations for local installers? Comments would be welcome. Thanks.

Never personally dealt with Goodacre but have heard mixed reviews. With bowthrusters you really need to make sure that the company in question does lots of installs as post-installation problems can be a nightmare to rectify.

Not the cheapest, but Osmotech in the Hamble do lots of them and seem to have a very good reputation.

Osmotech is excellent.
Also Paul Shotton. Pm me for mobile number.

Think of the former as the main dealer and Paul as the quality independent. He’ll probably be about 20% cheaper and source the kit from Osmotech who happily sell to other installers (and support them with good advice).

The thing that impressed me with osmotech is that I spoke to their boss at SIBS and was given an instant quote for a sailing yacht installation if no complications, discussed things like electric and control installation and they stuck exactly to the quote with no unexpected "extras": as well as the mechanical installation of the tunnel, nicely faired in, they did and excellent job of the electrics with a bow battery feed from the starter battery, all associated wiring and a very neat installation of the control switch on a nice Perspex panel, top job.

Yep and there is nothing Mike doesn’t know about them.

The thing that impressed me was that when I was installing them, I was worried about the supplier of the kit also being a competitor installer.

I needn’t have worried. Mike gave as much support as I needed, ensured I had a complete kit of parts so I didn’t have to do a return trip and even told me what he would charge so I could undercut him!

Shows true confidence in his company and that he’s a really nice chap.
