I havn't heard of a new marina in Boston although you can go through the sea lock into the river where there are moorings, there is a new 'marina' at fosdyke on the Welland where the old dock has had a lot of work done, new pontoons, hardstandings and travel lift
There are some plans to increase facilities futher on the opposite river bank, the crusing area is OK if you like mud and keep your head down when Biggles is practicing the Dam Busters raid!

I moor on the Witham at Bardney Lock and now know the marinas well. I have not heard of a new one at Boston, and one of my friends keeps his boat there. As I talk to him fairly regularly, I think he would have known......but then again. The river is lowered between October and April, so all the boats have to be lifted out at Boston.

There is a small marina at Chapel Hill, and just a bit farther on the opposite bank at Dogdyke, both near Tattershall. Bardney Lock is the next moorings, and then there is Lincoln Brayford Pool, the new Burton Waters complex and Torksey.

Thanks for that I think that this is probably what PBO refered to. Do you know how I can find out about access etc. and if the moorings dry.
Thanks Ted.

I agree with TFJ's comments. If you go up the Welland to the Fosdyke bridge (where the marina, or pontoons are) be carefull because the Harbour Master told me the tide can run in excess of 6 knotts (I think he mentioned 8) and you need to turn round to stem the tide to moor.
We go in and out of Boston each year taking the boats down to Felixstowe. The fishermen are very helpfull and friendly and they use the Hyabs on their boat to raise and lower our masts. They are also an excellent source of navigational information. There are some Enviromental agency moorings along the wall to starboard as you go up the river before the first fixed bridge but you really need to survey the site as they all dry and there were some shopping trolleys down there last time I looked. I would not leave my boat there for any period, other than to go to the pub, as the moorings are accessable to the public.
Boston is an interesting place to sail into and is worth a visit. If anyone wants more detailed info. on navigation PM me.Paul
