Can anyone tell me how to check the oil level in my BW gearbox. Its attached to Perkins 6/354.

I assume, or hope, there is a dipstick somewhere but difficult to see.

Equally difficult to see is where to fill the brute.

I suppose to complete the job access to a miniature contortionist would be useful.

On the BW Velvetdrive 71C the dipstick assembly is located on the Port side, just below the gear change lever.
Look for a "T" bar on a round cap. Unscrew and the cap will come away with the dipstick... it is NOT a simple pull-out as per car dipsticks.
Remember it is essential to screw the cap down tight or there won't be enough pressure for the hydraulic oil to achieve drive.
