Have wanted a small cruiser for a lifetime and now the proud owner of Borer Bee (YME8), the Eventide 24 which sailed home to the Uk in 1959 from Singapore. First read about these boats in Classic Boat 1990? when they had an article on Eventides, and have wished ever since.

Does anyone out there have any snippets of information on this particular boat, her earlier owners, any printed materials etc.etc.

Awaiting in anticipation !

You should visit the Eventide Owners association website on http://www.eventides.org/

The message boards don't seem to be working at the moment but I am sure a message to on of the Commitee Members would get you the information you require.

Membership is cheap £10.00 and well worth it.

Thanks for taking time to post message re: Eventide Website.
That is where I actually saw the Borer Bee advertised for sale. It appears I got the details written down just in time as the members page has been out of action as you say. Soon to be back I hope.
Again many thanks, Alan.

Now be careful Bigmart - politics rears its ugly head here: Eventides.org is NOT the same as the EOA. They had an ugly split a few years back which nearly ended up in a libel case. The break aways started the Evetide Owners Group (whose URL you quoted) which has a very active website, unlike the Owners Association whose website seems to be looked at once every 6 months.

However, Borer Bee has such standing in the MG world that I am sure both organisations will have information and will want to be in touch.

MG was very much involved with her as she was built specifically for her famous voyage and he made a number of suggestions and improvements to the original design to fit her for it.
