In need of a pair for general use on board when washing down, and sailing when there's a chance of a bit of water on deck. Although the second reason would be in the event of a major eff-up on my part reading the weather forecast.

Got to look the goods, (bit of a poser) and be easy to get on and off due to full metal hip jobby.

Don't want to be silly with the cash, although not adverse to paying for a good product.

Thanks for your thoughts.

I was a sailing wellies man until I, sorry Santa, bought the First Mate some Dubarries (she suffers from the cold due to bad circulation/Reynaud's). She was so enthusiastic I got some myself, and I am now a convert.

They are much warmer and nicer to wear than rubber boots in both cold and hot conditions, and give more protection if you stub your toe on a deck fitting or w.h.y.

I did need to return the first pair which, though 'my size' one boot was too tight. Next size up solved the problem. Getting them on and off gets quickly easier as they soften up and mould to your feet.

For the winter nothing beats the rubber boots if they are paired with neoprene socks (diving type). But this isn't something I'd try if the weather is warm, for obvious reasons (read stink).

Couldn't agree more. IF you are willing to pay the difference, you will notice the difference (goes for any leather -read flexible- welly over rubber).
