I can only remember how to tie a bowline from one direction depending on which side of the loop I'm standing: form the loop the wrong way up and the knot collapses.

If you tie a bowline in a doubled up rope there is no right or wrong way up.

Double up end of rope, then tie a knot in it: any knot will do.

Put loop over the rope anyway you like.

Push big loop through through center of small loop......

....To form double stranded mooring loop.

Very useful if you have a very long rope and want to form a loop in the middle, or just double over the last few feet of a rope as it's a lot easier than those damn rabbits coming out of their holes and going around the tree!

I find after the long winter period I've forgotten how to get the right orientation of the loop on the standard Bowline setup; ie. is the short end on top of the loop or the bottom, and should the loose end go under the loop or over it? I see the same problem with the slipknot method.

There is only one sort of overhand knot, only one way of putting the loop over the standing part of the rope, and only one way of pushing the big loop through the small loop ......

In theory. Lol!

It appears that this may be a new method of tying a Bowline in the bight of a rope ( not using a loose end), so I've sent off the details to the IGKT guild to register it as Google showed no similar methods that I could find......fingers crossed.

I've named it : Overhand Bowline Bight, as this doesn't exist in the list of knots.

I'll need to come up with a vernacular name: please make your suggestions....

Bargeman's bight
Easy bowline bight
One knot bowline
