Hi all, I'm after a pair of bolt croppers for 10mm chain - any pointers on what is suitable? Not wanting to spend the Earth, but want something that works...!

I've got these on the boat, they cut 10mm chain.

JTB - have you tried them on Grade 70 chain ? I think that would prove a helluva task.
Fouled anchor?Duhwhy would anyone need to cut 10mm chain in a hurry?

I agree, very easy to cut chain with a hacksaw.

Hi all,
Yes I was thinking of a pair to be able to release a fouled anchor, although point taken a hacksaw would get there (although be harder work if the boat was bouncing around). I have an all-chain setup, so dumping it all would work out very expensive. Plus then I would have them for more general use.
Any further thoughts please?!

Yes, go for the £60 hydraulic cutters on ebay.. They go through chain without any effort. AND you can operate them on a bouncy foredeck with one hand.
