does anyone have a problem with anchoring or hanging off a mooring with the rode getting in the way of the bobstay ( say when the tide turns ) ? any solutions ?

Get the rode well off to one side as when chain runs through a hawsepipe? Big square riggers seem to get away with it that way. Having a boat of very modest proportions and no bowspirt I don't have the problem.

a Fisher went aground in Fairlie few months back when the bobstay sawed through the rope mooring - make sure you use chain!

either slack off the bobstay and haul it out of the way up to the stemhead or attach the mooring line to a fitting below the lower bobstay attachment.
