If you read all the comments below this video (you'll have to watch it on youtube) you should find some of the answers you're looking for, posted 4 days ago. You might already have seen them though.....

I read about a UK boat washing up by Royan, skipper lifted off a bit earlier after 'electrical problems' Seemed a bit odd at the time. Going to be a bit of a problem refloating as it was a high tide and pushed up the beach by waves.

Interesting claim in that comment that professionals who “set up” his boat had deliberately not done their jobs and lied.

I was previously unaware of this guy so I googled him and found some other claims he’s made, both under this pseudonym and his real name.

There’s been a suggestion of an insurance con.

No idea who said it but how would they even know? The internet does bring out some nasty people.

We don't have insurance as nobody would

insure the boat for fully comprehensive so

we only had third party. We have had to pay

to help remove the boat from the beach,

which is substantial. It would be nice if

people would show Zed a little compassion,

after he has had to put up with racism and

people damaging the boat on purpose in

order to stop him before he even left. As

usual he kept his dignity put a smile on his

face and carried on. The result is that the

professionals we hired to setup the boat

didn't do their jobs on purpose and we only

realised we were lied to when it all went

wrong. However, Zed has filmed everything

and a feature length video will be released

at some point in the future. Not only did Zed

need to be rescued from the North Atlantic

but he's helped the town to resolve the boat

being on the beach, which was a bizarre set

of circumstances themselves. As you can

imagine this has been a deeply traumatic

time for us. The French authority's have

been wonderful to Zed, understanding and

compassionate and have said that he made

the correct decisions throughout. I think

people will be shocked when they learn just

what happened! For now Zed is recovering.

It was an incredibly brave decision to sail

around the world solo and it's a tragedy

that it has ended like this through no fault

of his own. However, he was having a

wonderful sailing experience until the boat

failed. I hope that helps clarify the situation.

This project was entirely self funded so we

are the only people who've lost everything.

Not easy to see from the photo in the Sud Ouest, but looked all there.
When the first report of him being lifted off, I wondered what type of electrical fault would stop him sailing to one of the nearby ports, he wasn't far off.

If this article is correct it should now be afloat in Royan.

The technical services of the City of Saint-Georges-de-Didonne have prepared the ground for the SNSM (National Society for Rescue at Sea) to put the boat back in the water this Monday, October 10

The National Society for Rescue at Sea waited for a high tide coefficient, this Monday, October 10, to try to put back into the water the English boat stranded on the beach of Saint-Georges-de-Didonne on Wednesday, September 28. The City's technical services prepared the ground with a backhoe by turning the boat facing the sea. Rescuers at sea were then able to bring the boat to the water and take it to the port of Royan, where its owner, an Englishman, will pick it up"

It all seems very strange ............ even to the point that in one of his videos he says no one in Dartmouth would do any work to his boat hence the move to Plymouth.

I hope he knows that he will be charged for the SNSM tow.

Just watched the video Plymouth to Falmouth. If some of his statements are true, first time he has been at sea under sail, the previous owner guessed the measurements for stuff, but I've owned the boat for a year and looking at how uncomfortable he was on passage. I wonder what preparation he has done for the voyage.

Looking forward to his next video.

Hello every one. This couple came to Torquay harbour about a year ago. They seemed like a really nice couple, but, they took the boat out once only and bought her. The previous owner had found her sunk, rescued her and had a berth in the inner harbour, Torquay. The couple left the boat and went away. We had some really rough weather, their furled jib unfurled and proceeded to thrash about trying to destroy itself. A harbour worker, myself and another boat owner spent a long time getting the foresail in and tying it off. We noticed the forestay shackle pin had come off and disappeared. I got a spare from my boat and we got the forestay fixed. The harbour master contacted the couple, but apparently the told him they were away and couldn't get to the boat. A few days later they came to their boat, walked past me without a word of thanks ( not that i wanted one ). The episode with the unfurled foresail is captured on facebook by one of the other boat owners. To the people there at the time, the couple were nice but certainly not experienced sailors. I am writing this only to say that maybe they had problems with people working on their boat only beacause the boat itself was the problem. Best regards, Oz.

I have just struggled through the video, skipping bits.
Frankly, I am surprised he got as far as here. I actually feel a bit sorry for them. Not sailed solo before, little understanding of the boat. Couple of times said they had run out of money on the project. Did they think that after you cast off, there are no further expenses? Loading the route onto the new chart plotter as if that solved navigating... expecting to bed down for the night, rather than cat-nap for short intervals.
The next vid was 'Falmouth to Tenerife' Did any of it get out?
I was thinking about the bit of going round Brittany with all the 'interesting' bits. Esp if a bit tired.
