I posted an ad (free one) for our boat on Boats & Outboards last week but it still hasn't turned up. I have the confirmation email from them with the details and all.

How long does it usually take for a free ad to appear?

Had similar problem Ad did not appear and was assisted by forumite StephenSails to get it up and posted. Unfortunately they appear in registration order so despite being in bold, the first time it appeared was on page 12 of the results. Needless to say no responses from that source. Apparently website is prone to being a bit flaky. Stephen was very helpful.

Sold quite a few items on B&O never any problems. They do have a help line number, and the staff are, well, very helpful! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

BY the way, saying they are flaky, is not really a good idea is it? The number is........

Just put Joker up on B and O. Ad up and live in 10 mins or so, less time than it took to make a cup of coffee

I have sold 2 sailing boats and a windsurfer on B&O.
The service has always worked well for me and it is free!
I do not think anyone needs to worry if the advert is a few pages down the list. In my experience the initial surge of interest has dropped off then a few weeks later the serious buyers have turned up.

Did not say THEY were flaky, in fact praised the help I received and will continue to do so. Issues were apparently down to website which has been running for some time and this is not the first example of this scenario.

(Ad did not appear for week after confirmation, discussion in club saying this was abnormal. Chased up via Sephen could not have been more helpful. Ad appeared and disappeared later in the day, 2 confirmation emails one for another boat entirely, ad reposted and flawless since.)

I work with type in tellies and realise it is not the organisation but often issues in the software. To reiterate the staff are helpful.

You might find your ad gets pushed down many pages quite quickly .. unfortunately they take bulk ads from dealers .. sometimes many pages long .. and this has the effect of nudging all the private ads a long way down. They should separate trade and private ads!
