We've noticed an extraordinary number of large boats leaving Windermere by road this year.
There have been some arriving, but many more going. Boats in the above 30' range on yacht transport, which you wouldn't be doing if you were thinking of coming back next year. I've seen one 31 Oceanis Clipper going this morning and another empty yacht transport wagon coming in.
I also think Valley Forge went past with his pretty Piper, but that'll be coming back, I assume.

I bet we have had two big boats a day leaving. Mainly yachts but some motor boats.
Strange thing is that some of the boats arriving have not been new boats, which would be the usual thing.

Is this all related to the faltering economy, or the weather?

I thought I heard somewhere that Windemere was being drained for landfill, or was that just a rumour?;)

By 'eck - spotted ! should have tooted but wasn't quite sure where you were. (That your blue suzuki/mitsubishi thing ?)
Maiden Marine are shipping a few big boats to Burneside storage at the moment, Shepards lifting off too but don't know where they go. If I had £50k+ in a yot then I'd want her off the water this winter, just in case its a really cold one .... I remember when the ice broke up after the '63 winter a lot of floe rafting took place, wouldn't do a shiny hull much good.

Same next year all being well, looking back first half of this year was brilliant, second half not too good, either no wind, too much wind or just plain wet.
Looking forward to seeing your new project,
Cheers

That's the one. I knew it was yours as I can't think of another with that hull colour.

Your summary of the sailing this year is spot on. However had a lovely, steady sail on Saturday (on my ex-boat).

I'm astonished if MM have convinced enough people to pay for a lift and transport both ways. I wonder if it's pressure from the insurers.

Forgive my ignorance/flippance, but isn't this the only way a boat could leave an inland lake?;)
