Boats and Cyclists

Well spotted. Perhaps others can be excused for not knowing that is the road out.
The cars on the pavement have driven there to allow the transporter to pass. The pickup driving ahead with flashing lights and "Abnormal Road" signs is the clue they need. None of the cars are parked. They have voluntarily put the cars there to allow the boat safe passage. The transporter did not stop at the point where the cyclist was being an arse. His mates didn't feel the need to occupy their bit of road.
As usual on a forum thread those who weren't there argue the toss about something of which they have no knowledge. Assuming that I am lying, for comic effect.

There looks to be a good couple of meters between the cyclist and the transporter, so presumably cyclist was not in anybody's way.

Did the overhead wire cause any concern for the transporter? Clearance looks better on the left than the right, although this may be just a trick of the perspective.

Tried to sign out of this thread, but got the following message:

"An invalid threadid or forumid was specified.."

Am I cursed to being brought back here, forever?

Of course there is. The driver didn't fancy doing time for squashing a cyclist.
It's not a competition to see how close you can get to a bloody big wagon.
The transporter could have done with a bit more room to move away from the trees on the nearside.

I thought the driver was very relaxed. I would have blown my horn good and loud.

(Cable is irrelevant. They bring loads like this in on this side of the road and no telephone cable has been brought down yet.)

Half a mile before he brought it through the middle of Bowness where the Japanese woman leapt in front of a car last week.

This is one a month ago.

Seeing as you are the only one who was there, your point of view really precludes the rest of us from taking part in the toss-arguing. Why post it in the first place?

Photo one the right wheels of the lorry are a cross the center line due to the corner. In the following the wheels are just over the center line. The cyclist is in the middle of his side of the road. I see no problem.

I was not there and i'm going on the evidence submitted by the original posting. If you do not want comments then why post?

The evidence is that everyone else made an effort to get as far over a possible. Including the knob-head's companions.

He is cycling mafia. the Spawn of the Devil.

The only thing you can tell from those pictures and the OP's interpretation is that, if you you loath some group, you can 'spin' any situation to reinforce your bigotry.

- The cyclist is no closer to the lorry than the side of the RangeRover.
- Not all the other users have made an effort to get over 'as far as possible'. The Range Rover could have got onto the pavement by another yard.

However in both cases they have obviously done all that was necessary.
However, if the cyclists had turned around and taken a 20 mile detour, Lakesailor would still have found fault.
It's what sad old men do.

Pop that in the water and the lake should rise a few inches - Shouldn't think it'll have any engines in though, when it needs to move they'll strap a couple of seagulls on the back - just for the annual holding tank pump out. (just think sleeping next to that bubbling & fermenting away).

The cyclists are probably the ones that passed me & about 10 other cars going down Kirkstone pass the other day. Must wear superman tights, or maybe they just say lucky.

The evidence is that the cyclist is no further out than the cars which you can see behind him.

The evidence is also that some people have a bit of a thing about cyclists and can only see wrong in what they do.

Should this thread really be in Scuttlebutt? The presence of a boat in the pictures is irrelevant.
