Have to fall on my sword now, last post on MB forum as a boat owner, boat sold this afternoon, at present no thoughts of buying again, send back my warrant to RNSA, left hip needs a refit, but not anytime soon it would seem, not in enough pain yet.

Ribs bring a different diamention to boating, I really enjoy mine, only problem is I never take the mothership out.
You are always very welcome to come out for a play on mine

Nah! looking at a 7 mtr ocean rib with a yanmar 4LHA-STP I think this is a 240Hp with 390 hours with a Mercruiser Bravo 3 outdrive c/w Stainless steel duo prop, seems cheap, thinking about joining you rib hooligans Roy.

seems a good price that one. Let me know via pm if you don't put a deal together as I was thinking about having a chat with them.

Sorry to hear you have sold without an idea of whether you will replace.

I had the pleasure of driving Roy's amazing toy back from Cowes today - goes like gooey smelly stuff of a hot polished shovel !

So Gary is that a clue to your status as well ?

At least you can still hang out here for some virtual boating David. Other opportunities can and will present themselves, a bit of travelling perhaps when the new hip is run in?

Callum,

'Er indoors has already started on the "we can go on holiday somewhere" that was one of the first things she said when I came back from finalising the sale, we'll make a fine pair bionic pensioners, her having her hips replaced twice and me as the newbie hip replacee, I think I know what's in her head, but you know wimmin, when you have an idea that you starting to get to grips with how their brain works, they immediately say something to crush that thought, there was mention of a couple of weeks in a floating steel block of flats, which has zero appeal for me, we live on top of the cruise ship capital of the UK and just the thought of getting on one of those things makes me feel ill, wondering endlessly day after day from one restaurant to another grazing like sheep for two weeks and return to Southampton weighing 5 stone more than when you left, and 7 or 8k short in my wallet, no thanks.

Martin,

I'm guessing you are implying a camper van, caravan, that has about the same appeal as the steel flats idea, driving down to Sandy Balls camp site to park the van next to all the other vans, for all their faults, Clarkson and co have got that one sussed, all caravan should be forced off the road using a 5 ton wrecking ball, anyway, what ever people have called me in the past, it was never a pikey git, I've been called things a lot worse, but not a pikey.;)

David - not casting nasturiums at all. I know you have salt water in your veins. I hope you can get the hip replacement sorted soon.

Can't you sleep either?

No offence taken or implied, have to admit to looking at motor sailors on apollo, there's one down at Gosport, cheap 36 footer, can't stop myself, it's the thought of still being a ABP mooring holder and hate to give it back, they are as rare as hens teeth, and if they get wind of it not having a boat on it will most likely ask for it to be returned to their waiting list.

I'm 8 hours behind UK at the moment. I always fancied the idea of a motor sailor too.

This is what I'm looking at, http://yachts.apolloduck.co.uk/display.phtml?aid=408238 but know absolutely nothing about sailing, the last time I sailed was in France on a French equivalent of a hobbie cat 18' rocket ship standstill to 30kts in about 3 mins that was about 20 years ago, prior to that I was part of a crew on a RN owned yacht out of Clarence yard bloody great big thing about 70' long 20 young matlots learning nautical terms and knots sailed down to pool for a run ashore and fish and chip supper followed by a piss up in the local pub, sailed back the next day.1966 iirc

Hi you ol' Seadog.
Sorry to hear both your hip and boat gone together. At least you know what you're in for with a replacement. My swmbo has just had one and getting more mobile now.

It'll be a while before you will want to jump in a Rib tho. Also the pace will be fun for a while but not your stye, I'm afraid.

Never been a fan of motor sailing as they are more of a compromise really. They don't point as well under sail and very limited performance under power.
Southerly have to be a strong contender though.:encouragement:

Hope you get a hip sooner rather than later, as you know, it'll be worth it.
