The best laid plans just never go to plan where boatings is concerned! Our planned cruise in company only got as far as Weymouth due to the changing weather. All the work done prior to the event had to go onhold, The Carey Arms cancelled and a swift alternative found in Weymouth. Thank you the Royal Dorset Yachtclub for putting on a great spead at such short notice.
The only thing that went to plan was the departure time on Wednesday. After that it was up early each morning to see what the weather gods were going to throw at us that day.
But despite the ever changing weather, all had a good time, even if it did mean finding the odd extra curricula activity.
We left Hamble Point South Cardinal at 09.15 on Wednesday.
And following a good run down in just under 2 3/4 hours, even it was a bit "lumpy" we arrived in Weymouth.
In fact Wednesday was the best day of the lot and we had a display by the Red Arrows in the afternoon.
Then we settled in for the evening......
Then it was a case of sitting out each day............
And we even had one skipper turn up for the daily briefings suitably attired.............
Yesterday (Saturday) the younger crew members were carted off to see Toy Story 3 in 3D and later we had a bowling session!
Given the forecast for more inclement weather we left Weymouth this morning and were able to give the crews plenty off opportunity to use their radars - fog all the way to St Albans Head! So picture taking was a bit light on the way back, but our rib decided to play!
Now it's down to planning for next year! Oh well, I think we will consider November as an option!!
